This tutorial will show you how to configure your site in Cute FTP. Let's start by opening up your Site Manager. This is where you create, modify and delete all your sites. Let's create a new folder to hold your new site. Right-click and select New Folder. Enter the name of your new folder. Great. Now let's create a new site to put into your new folder. Name the new site whatever you like. This is for your reference only and need not follow any required format. So far so good... Now enter the Host Name or IP Address. If your site DNS has fully propagated, you may enter ftp.yoursite.com where yoursite.com is replaced with your actual domain name. If DNS has yet to propagate, enter the IP address provided to you by your web host in Welcome email. Enter the username and password provided to you in your Welcome email. Note: If you are using the Ensim control panel, enter youraccountname@yoursite.com instead of just your account name. Well, that's was easy, wasn't it? Now let's see how to modify the site we just created. You can specify the directory that you would like to automatically open when connecting to your site. The root directory will be called something like public_html or httpdocs or www, depending on server configuration. Similarly, you can set a default local directory. And finally, let's see how to delete a site. Well done! You are now able to create, modify and delete sites in Cute FTP.

This tutorial will show you how to manage your site in Cute FTP. Let's start by creating a new folder (directory). Give the directory a name. Now let's rename the directory we just created. Right-click and select Rename. And finally, let's see how to delete the directory. In Cute FTP, you can view the contents of files without having to download them. The last thing we will cover in this tutorial is how to set file permissions. As an example, when installing scripts in your site (eg. a guestbook), you may be asked to set file permissions. More often than not, it will be a file in your cgi-bin (not always, though). Select the file for which you wish to set permissions (CHMOD). You can check off the boxes individually or simply enter the permission setting eg., 755. Well done! You are now able to easily manage your files in Cute FTP.

This tutorial will show you how to set your preferences in Cute FTP. Let's open up the Setting dialogue box. It is recommended that many of the default settings in Cute FTP are left unchanged, as they are optimally set by the manufacturer. However, there are a few we can take a look at... For instance, you may choose the default screen you would like to see whenever you launch Cute FTP. You can manage the transfer mode used when transferring files. You can set it to ASCII or Binary, or simply leave it on Auto-detect, and let Cute FTP determine which mode to use depending on the file type. This settings in Display are pretty self-explanatory and are purely a matter of what look, feel and sound you prefer. For instance, you may select colors for various elements in the Cute FTP interface or set your preference in fonts or sounds (this one can be fun) or prompts. Its is recommended that you do not uncheck any of these. Many of them will prompt you double-checking that you actually want to do something that may be. Well, that's pretty much It! Over time, as you get more familiar with the features and functions of Cute FTP, you will have a better idea for how you would like it to look, feel and function.

This tutorial will show you how to transfer files to and from your server using Cute FTP. Let's start by connecting to our site via Site Manager. Select the site to which you wish to connect and click Connect. As you can see, we are connected to the site. Now browse to locate the files on your local computer. Go to your site files on the server. Depending on your server's configuration, the files could be in a directory called public_html or httpdocs or www or public or something similar. You're doing great so far! Now locate the files that you would like to transfer to server. You may upload multiple files by highlighting the first file that you wish to upload and while holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, highlight the last file you wish to upload. There are a few ways to transfer the selected files. You can simply drag and drop the files over to the remote server or you may click on the Upload button on the toolbar. You will be prompted if you are uploading any files that already exist on the server. It is a similar procedure for downloading files from the server. One more thing to consider when transferring files is transfer mode. It is important to ensure it's done in the proper mode. For example, files in jpg, gif, exe and zip format should transferred in binary mode. Files in html, php, cgi and pl format should always be transferred in ASCII mode. Fortunately, Cute FTP is able to automatically detect file type and transfers a file accordingly. However, you do have the option to manually select ASCII or Binary mode. You are now able to transfer files to and from your server using Cute FTP.
