It is believed that peyote stitch's originated in Native American roots where the peyote cactus is eaten ceremonially as a sacrament in the Native American Church. During this ceremony a form of peyote stitch are used to embellish fans, rattles, and other items used in the ceremony and as such the name was taken from there. Native Americans themselves however may prefer to term this stitch gourd stitch but this would apply more particularly to tubular peyote.
My first stitch learned was the even count Peyote stitch but since I found the Right Angle Weave also know for short as RAW - no it's not the wrestling program - I have had so much more fun and creative juices flowing since.
Fantasy art is different than any other kind of art because it is often composed of things that don’t exist. These things come from your imagination and while you can’t grab a unicorn and ask it to sit still so you can draw it there are some techniques you can use that will improve your fantasy art.
